Srinagar, March 22, 2025: The Eco-Tourism Society of Kashmir, in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, organized a plantation drive today at Zabarwan Park, Dal Lake. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about environmental conservation and promote sustainable tourism in the region.

The event was graced by Deputy Director Tourism Kashmir, Nasir Mehmood Khan, alongside esteemed members of the Travel and Tourism Association of Kashmir (TAAK). Several officials from the Tourism Department were also present, including Assistant Tourist Officers—Gowhar Raffiee, Azaad Yaseen, Basharat Hussain, Mohd Shafiq Shah, Manzoor Ahmad Wani, and Sibgat Ullah. Shaista Khan, Incharge of Zabarwan Park, was also present and participated actively in the plantation drive.

Mohammed Shafi Wangnoo, Convener of the Eco-Tourism Society of Kashmir, who led the initiative, emphasized the significance of such drives in preserving Kashmir’s natural beauty. He stated, “These plantation drives serve as a crucial awareness campaign, particularly for tourism stakeholders. Since Kashmir’s tourism industry is directly dependent on nature, it is essential to promote responsible and sustainable tourism. Large-scale plantation drives across the valley will help protect our environment and ensure a greener future for generations to come.”
The drive saw enthusiastic participation from various stakeholders, reaffirming their commitment to eco-friendly tourism and environmental conservation. The organizers highlighted the need for continued efforts in afforestation to maintain the ecological balance and sustain the region’s natural charm.
