Gulmarg, July 11, 2026: Jammu & Kashmir Eco Watch, under its flagship environmental initiative “Go Green Gulmarg,” today organised a special plantation drive at Gulmarg in collaboration with the Ecotourism Association of Kashmir and the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA).
The plantation drive was conducted under the guidance and mentorship of Advocate Nadeem Qadri and under the supervision of Mr. Tariq Hussain Naik, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA). The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from tourism stakeholders, environmental volunteers, members of civil society, and officials, all united in their commitment to protecting and enhancing Gulmarg’s pristine environment.
Mr. Shabir Ahmad Malik, Traffic Judge / Special Mobile Magistrate (Traffic), Kashmir Province, graced the occasion and appreciated the organisers for taking meaningful steps towards environmental conservation. He highlighted the importance of collective efforts in preserving Kashmir’s rich ecological heritage and promoting environmental awareness through sustained plantation initiatives.
Dr. Haroon Kar, SHO, Gulmarg Police Station, was also present during the plantation drive and appreciated the collaborative initiative aimed at making Gulmarg greener and environmentally sustainable.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sameer Baktoo, President, Ecotourism Association of Kashmir, emphasised that sustainable tourism and environmental conservation are inseparable. He lauded the Go Green Gulmarg initiative of Jammu & Kashmir Eco Watch and reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to supporting programmes that promote responsible tourism and safeguard Kashmir’s fragile ecosystem for future generations.
The organisers reiterated their commitment to continue undertaking similar conservation initiatives across Jammu & Kashmir by encouraging active public participation in afforestation, environmental protection, and responsible tourism.
