Bandipora, Aug 26 : The establishment of a new army camp at Naidkhai village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora district sparked a complete shutdown in the area as people have been demanding its immediate removal.
All the shops and business establishments remained shut while traffic also remained off the roads.
As per locals, Army’s 13 Rashtriya Rifles stationed at Mansbal established a camp ‘illegally’ in the area. They alleged that the camp has been set up to frighten people.
“This camp in residential area has become a nuisance for the common people here and it should be removed,” the locals said adding that they will hit to roads on daily basis if this camp is not removed.
When contacted, a senior police official told CNS that they will look into the matter. “People are demanding the removal of the army camp and we will look into the matter,” he said.
Pertinently, after the surge in militancy, Army have established dozens of camps in different villages of South Kashmir.
