Shivaleeka Oberoi, who starred in films like ‘Yeh Saali Aashiqui’ and Khuda Hafiz secretly harbours a wish of starring with Salman Khan in a film someday. Not many know that actress has earlier worked with the actor as an assistant director in his action film ‘Kick’.
ETimes caught up with the chirpy actress for an exclusive interview where she opened up about being a movie buff, her celebrity crushes, and more. Excerpts…
Were you a movie buff growing up?
As a child, I was always awestruck with the grandeur of films and the entire idea of going to the theatres to watch a film. I was definitely a movie buff as my elder sister used to watch a lot of movies and I used to sit and watch all those films with her.
Who did you idolise growing up?
I idolised Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. I was a huge fan of Madhuri Dixit. I used to imitate her dance moves and copy her expressions. Apart from them, Kareena Kapoor Khan has been a huge influence in my life.
As a child I was a huge Salman Khan fan. I had his posters in my room and cupboard. I worked in ‘Kick’ with him as an assistant director. I was completely awestruck. I was very nervous and shy around him all the time. He made me feel comfortable. Since I worked with him behind the camera, it is now my
dream to work with him in front of the camera. Hopefully, that will come true someday.
One recent movie you wished you were a part of?
When I watched ‘Gully Boy’ and ‘Kabir Singh’ I felt I wish I was a part of these films simply because of the script. The characterization, the songs, the way they were directed, it had everything. Hopefully, something like that comes to me soon.( TOI )
