In the 337th session of the Fiction Writers’ Guild, renowned fiction writer and General Secretary of the Guild, Mr. Nasir Zamir, once again reiterated the Guild’s stance that it has always provided, and will continue to provide, a platform for both senior fiction writers and newcomers to the field.
The session was organized at the City Office of the Fiction Writers’ Guild, located at Heera Manzil, Central Market, Abi Guzar, Lal Chowk, Srinagar, on Saturday, 9th August 2025, at 2:00 PM.
The session was presided over by the well-known fiction writer and critic, Mr. Deepak Budki, while senior bureaucrat and former Chief Information Commissioner, Mr. G.R. Sufi, attended as the Chief Guest. Also present on the dais as a distinguished guest was English language scholar, Mr. Tareef Naz.
At the start of the session, Guild’s General Secretary Mr. Nasir Zamir welcomed the members of the presidium, the participants, and the audience.
The proceedings began with noted scholar and writer, Dr. Mushtaq B. Barq, reading his English piece The Beauty of Black, which was greatly enjoyed by all present.
Following this, prominent writer Dr. Ali Mohammad Nishtar presented his Kashmiri short story Kirdar Te Director (“Character and Director”), which sparked a lively discussion and received praise for its merits.
Next, Insha Zahra, an eighth-grade student, read her piece titled The Dustbin: Filled with Criticism, for which she was warmly encouraged.
Afterwards, the President of the session, Mr. Deepak Budki, read his own Urdu short story Makri Ke Jaale (“Spider’s Web”), which was well-received by the audience.
Distinguished guest Mr. Tareef Naz described the Guild’s meeting as highly engaging and informative, adding that all educated individuals and literature enthusiasts should connect with such gatherings.
The Chief Guest, Mr. G.R. Sufi, expressed his happiness at participating in the Guild’s session.
In his presidential remarks, Mr. Deepak Budki recalled several personal memories in a highly engaging manner and commended the Guild’s efforts.
