Fire Breaks Out in Srinagar’s Khanyar ; Two Residential Houses Damaged

Srinagar, June 27: At around 3:00 a.m the State Fire Control Room, Batamaloo, received a fire call from Tabardar Mohalla, Khanyar. Acting swiftly, fire tenders from Fire Station Babdemb, Fire Station Rainawari, Fire Station M.R. Gunj, followed by Fire & Emergency Services Headquarters, was rushed to the spot.

Considering the highly congested nature of the area, additional fire tenders were dispatched as reinforcement to assist in the firefighting operation.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a four-storeyed residential house in which the 3rd and 4th Story was engulfed in flames, while the attic portion of an adjacent three-storeyed residential house had also caught fire.

Firefighters immediately launched an intensive firefighting operation to prevent the blaze from spreading further.

In the incident, two residential houses sustained damage. The four-storeyed residential house In which the 3rd story and the Attic was completely gutted in the fire and the Rest 2nd Floor and Ground floor got damaged due to water, heat and smoke, while the three-storeyed residential house was partially damaged.

The operation was carried out under the overall supervision of ADGP/Director, Fire & Emergency Services Alok Kumar – IPS while senior officials remained on the ground to monitor and coordinate the operation.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and is under investigation.
