SRINAGAR 21 May : Fresh snowfall was reported at Zero Point Zojila and Drass on Wednesday and Thursday, while rainfall continued across several parts of the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, and caused a flash-flood-like situation in Bandipora district where two people were injured, officials said.

According to reports, rainfall began late Wednesday night and persisted across the Valley. Snowfall was recorded in the higher reaches of Zojila and Drass from early Thursday, contributing to a sharp fall in temperatures across the region.

In north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, a flash-flood-like situation developed near Darul Uloom Rahimiya on the Srinagar–Bandipora road after water and mud entered several residential houses. Officials said two houses sustained partial damage in the incident.

Two persons, identified as Muskaan and a minor, sustained minor injuries. One of them was discharged after first aid, while the other is undergoing treatment at District Hospital Bandipora, officials said.

Meanwhile, parts of the Jammu division continued to experience warm conditions, even as the Meteorological Department forecast thunderstorms, gusty winds and hailstorms across Jammu and Kashmir over the next two days.

The Meteorological Centre advised residents, particularly in vulnerable areas, to exercise caution during thunderstorms and avoid open spaces during lightning activity. Authorities also warned of possible disruptions to outdoor activities due to gusty winds and isolated hailstorms in some districts.
