Srinagar, June 25 (KNC): Jammu and Kashmir Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday said the present government inherited several challenges in the health, education and other key sectors but has made significant progress in addressing them through sustained efforts and reforms.
Speaking to reporters, Itoo said the government had virtually started from scratch in improving essential public services. “We began from zero in the health sector, education sector and several other sectors. There were many difficulties and problems, but to a large extent these issues have now been resolved by the present government,” she said.
Highlighting the government’s initiatives to strengthen healthcare services, the minister said that soon after assuming office, the administration appointed 509 new doctors and deployed them to remote and underserved areas to improve medical facilities.
She further informed that another batch of 426 doctors has recently been selected, adding that their CID verification process is currently underway and they will be posted after completion of the required formalities.
Itoo reiterated the government’s commitment to further strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring better public services across Jammu and Kashmir. (KNC)
