SRINAGAR, JUNE 26 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has strongly rejected the People’s Democratic Party’s allegations that his government made 25,000 backdoor appointments.
Responding to the accusations, Omar Abdullah said the claims are baseless and criticized the PDP leadership, saying those making the allegations should first answer questions about appointments made during their own tenure.
The Chief Minister alleged that the highest number of illegal backdoor appointments took place during the PDP-BJP coalition government. He further claimed that recruitment-related cases involving the Jammu and Kashmir Bank are under investigation by probe agencies.
Omar Abdullah said his government has already shared all relevant information and announced that two cabinet ministers will address a press conference within the next two days to place the government’s position and supporting facts before the public.
He also alleged that the appointment of a relative of PDP president Mehbooba Mufti took place during the PDP’s tenure, citing it as an example while countering the party’s criticism.
The Chief Minister challenged the PDP to produce concrete evidence to support its allegations, stating that the government is fully prepared to respond to any claims backed by proof.
The political exchange has intensified the debate over recruitment practices in Jammu and Kashmir, with both sides accusing each other over alleged irregular appointments.
