SRINAGAR 29 Jun: Kashmir is likely to experience heatwave conditions over the next 48 hours, with daytime temperatures expected to remain significantly above normal across the region, according to the latest weather forecast.
Forecasts indicate that the maximum temperature in Srinagar is likely to reach between 35°C and 37°C on Sunday, with most weather models showing a high degree of consistency. A few models, however, suggest a slightly lower maximum temperature of around 34°C.
Across the Kashmir Valley, maximum temperatures are expected to remain 4°C to 8°C above the seasonal average, creating heatwave conditions in many areas through Monday.
While Kashmir braces for unusually hot weather, no significant rise in temperatures is expected across most parts of the Jammu region, where monsoon-like conditions continue to prevail. Weather experts have forecast the possibility of brief and scattered showers in parts of Jammu over the next 48 hours.
The prevailing heatwave conditions in Kashmir are expected to ease from Wednesday, with a further drop in temperatures likely from Thursday following the arrival of a Western Disturbance.
Weather experts have advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, stay adequately hydrated and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses, particularly children, elderly people and those with underlying health conditions.
