The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi-IPS, led a meeting at the Police Control Room Kashmir to oversee the security arrangements for the upcoming elections. The meeting, attended by various officers from police, intelligence agencies, and security forces, aimed to ensure a smooth and successful conduct of the elections.
According to a statement provided to GNS, the meeting addressed strategies to safeguard public safety and the integrity of the electoral process. IGP Kashmir directed district heads to analyze and reassess existing strategies to prevent potential terror incidents. The importance of revisiting and reinforcing area domination strategies to address any security gaps was emphasized.
Birdi stressed the necessity of keeping individuals associated with terrorism out of circulation and neutralizing their threats effectively. Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including guidelines for the movement of security personnel, was emphasized to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
Ensuring a secure environment for the movement of territorial officers and security personnel was highlighted as crucial. Range DIGs were assigned to monitor respective areas meticulously to facilitate the safe passage of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) across districts. Coordination with counterpart DIGs of CAPFs for route planning was also discussed.
Special attention was given to intensifying cordon and search operations (CASOs) and generating actionable intelligence to enhance security measures. The meeting underscored the collaborative effort among various security agencies to maintain peace and security during the electoral process.
