Socio-Political Activist Agha Syed Karar Hashmi has raised a public issue of illegal garbage dumping site near river Sindh at village Dab in Central Kashmir Ganderbal, a threat to water bodies and ecology.
Syed Karar Hashmi said that household waste generated is often uncolleted in rural areas causing various types of pollution air, water pollution, soil pollution and the aesthetic degradation of the landscape. Here heaps of garbage especially the Non Biodegradable plastic waste is being dumped by the locals of Village Dab and its adjacent areas near river Sind and now this garbage dumping point is a major nuisance in the village and had become breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies, posing a health hazard and also a great threat for river and ecology.
Hashmi further said that that We fear the pollution from the dumping site will bring disaster.People of adjacent areas should stop dumping garbage near the water body, but unfortunately nobody paid a heed to our pleas.The river is fast deteriorating. Illegal dumping of waste will ruin it completely ahead.
Karar Hashmi Requested District Administration and Muncipality to take a serious note of this public issue before this illegal dumping site at village Dab will turn into disaster for adjacent areas in Central Kashmir Ganderbal.
