In a significant step towards promoting responsible tourism, the Eco Tourism Society of Kashmir organized an impactful awareness conference and cleanliness drive in Sonamarg, marking the commencement of a series of initiatives dedicated to environmental conservation. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Sonamarg Development Authority.
Mr. Sameer Ahmad Boktoo, Convenor of Eco Tourism Society of Kashmir, officially launched the cleanliness drive in Sonamarg today. Expressing his enthusiasm, Mr. Boktoo stated, “We aim to foster responsible tourism practices, and this initiative is a crucial stride towards preserving the pristine beauty of Sonamarg.”
The conference and drive garnered attention from distinguished personalities, with notable environmental lawyer and expert, Mr. Nadeem Qadri, pledging his full support to the Eco Tourism Society of Kashmir. Mr. Qadri assured continuous collaboration for upcoming events dedicated to environmental causes.
Dr. Ilyas, Chief Executive Officer of the Sonamarg Development Authority, played a pivotal role during the event. Addressing the gathering, which included representatives from hotels, guesthouses, homestay owners, and other stakeholders in Sonamarg, Dr. Ilyas highlighted the various development works undertaken by the authority to align with eco-tourism and responsible tourism practices.
Expressing gratitude, Mr. Boktoo extended his thanks to the members of the Eco Tourism Society of Kashmir and all stakeholders present at the meeting.
