Srinagar, Nov 09 : The residents of Zafran Colony, Pantha Chowk, Srinagar urged the J&K Bank Chairman to address their long pending demand of installing an ATM in their area as they have been demanding the same since past 10 years but to no avail.
A group of elderly residents of Zafran Colony, Srinagar told news agency— that they have to travel four to five kilometres to withdraw money from the ATM which is located at Pantha Chowk and Balhama. “We have been urging the J&K Bank authorities to install an ATM in our area since past ten years but don’t know why our pleas are not being heard,” said Adil Bashir, a resident of the Colony, adding that the Colony has already been facing the issue of non-availability of public transport and the absence of ATM has further aggravated their problems.
Ghulam Qadir, an elderly resident said that they have time and again requested the J&K Bank authorities through written requests to install an ATM in Zafran Colony which is spread over 5 kms from Sempora, Srinagar. “Every time we get assurances only and nothing happens on the ground,” he said. “In the past 10 years, the population has increased manifold in Zafran Colony due to massive construction and a large number of people are suffering in absence of an ATM.”
A group of elderly men from Zafran Colony petitioned Chairman J&K Bank to intervene and pass immediate directions to the Bank authorities to install an ATM in the area on priority as part of the good governance and governance at the doorsteps of people initiative started by the J&K LG Manoj Sinha. “We hope that this time, we will get an ATM in our Colony,” they said
