Indo Pak armies continue to lock horns on border

Srinagar, July 19, KP: The armies of India and Pakistan on Wednesday traded fire and heavy mortar shelling for the third consecutive day in Mendar area of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Officials said that heavy shelling was going on in Balakote sector of Mendhar sub-division. A civilian was injured in fresh shelling in Sandote Balakote, they said.

He was identified as 20-year-old Ahmad Raza, son of Abdul Hamied.

A police official said that heavy shelling was going on in Dhar, Lambibari area of Upper Rajdhani in Manjkote in Rajouri district.

Two civilians were killed and 13 others wounded in firing by Indian side along the Line of Control in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Pakistan said yesterday.

A soldier was killed in a sniper fire by Pakistan army at Nowgam area of Kupwara district yesterday afternoon.

Another soldier was killed in Pakistani firing in Nowshera area of Rajouri, a defence spokesman said.

Several civilians were also injured in the Pakistan army fire, he said. (KP)
