SRINAGAR 08 Jun : The Jal Shakti Department of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir has revoked, with retrospective effect, amendments previously introduced to the Jammu and Kashmir Engineering (Gazetted Service) Recruitment Rules, 1978, as per an official notification issued on June 7, 2026.

According to Notification S.O. 160, the changes notified under SRO-14 of 2016, dated January 15, 2016, have been withdrawn ab initio in exercise of powers under the proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India. The order has been issued in the name of the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory.

The decision effectively reverts the recruitment rules to their pre-2016 position, although the notification does not outline any detailed administrative or service implications arising from the reversal.
