SRINAGAR 14 May: The Council of Ministers has approved the establishment of an 800 tonnes-per-day Integrated Solid Waste Management (ISWM) Project at Achan in Srinagar at an estimated cost of Rs 361 crore.

Officials said the project is aimed at strengthening waste management infrastructure in the city and improving scientific disposal and processing of municipal solid waste.

The proposed facility is expected to enhance waste handling capacity, support cleaner urban surroundings and address long-standing environmental concerns linked to waste accumulation in Srinagar.

The project forms part of the government’s broader efforts to modernise civic infrastructure and improve sanitation and environmental management in the region.
