Hirdesh Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir, Tuesday called on the Lieutenant Governor (LG), Girish Chandra Murmu here at Raj Bhavan.
Kumar briefed the LG about various activities undertaken for generating awareness of electoral process and sensitizing the voters and other ongoing activities of the Election Commission in Jammu and Kashmir.
The LG asked the CEO to stress on high importance of educating the voters about the value of their vote, besides increasing enrolment of eligible voters to strengthen the roots of democratic setup. He asked him to ensure availability of all the related information in the public domain.
Meanwhile, NR Pradhan, General Manager, Food Corporation of India (FCI), J&K, also called on the LG and briefed him about the stock positioning of the food grains in the godowns across the Union Territory.
The LG and the FCI official discussed about the procurement and availability of food grains and other important related issues amid COVID19 crisis.
The LG asked the official to ensure sufficient stock and take all necessary measures to ensure hassle-free supply of food grains, especially to vulnerable areas to avoid any inconvenience to people.
