J&K Film Policy facilitates 350 film shoot permissions: Dir Info

Srinagar, June 26: In a bid to harness the scenic splendor and cultural richness of Jammu and Kashmir, the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Conclave at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) featured an insightful session on Film Tourism. Organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department, the event aims to unlock new avenues for tourism promotion in the region.
During the afternoon session, Director Information Jatin Kishore delivered a presentation highlighting the region’s picturesque landscapes and vibrant cultural tapestry, ideal for film productions. He underscored the economic and promotional benefits of filming in Jammu and Kashmir, outlining initiatives under the J&K Film Policy that have streamlined the process of obtaining shooting permissions.
Following the presentation, a panel discussion titled ‘Film Tourism and its potential in promoting J&K Tourism’ engaged renowned Bollywood filmmakers and writers including Imtiaz Ali, Vishal Bharadwaj, Kabir Khan, actor Sanjay Suri, and line producer KhawarJamsheed. The discussion focused on Kashmir Valley’s potential as a filming destination, its cultural heritage, and its role in boosting tourism and local economies while creating employment opportunities.
The session also facilitated interactions between panelists and stakeholders from the film and tourism industries, addressing queries and fostering collaboration towards leveraging Jammu and Kashmir’s film tourism potential.
