The J&K Government on Tuesday appointed retired IAS officer Shantmanu as the State Election Commissioner.

According to an order issued by the General Administration Department, Liuetenant Governer has appointed Shantmanu as State Election Commissioner.
He will serve for five years or until he turns 70, whichever is earlier.The appointment takes effect from the date he assumes charge, the order reads.
