Jammu, Mar 30 : Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather on Monday issued a notification outlining the schedule for elections to the three financial committees of the House, with each panel to comprise 11 members.

The election process, conducted under the principle of proportional representation through a single transferable vote, will see nominations accepted until April 4, according to an official order accessed news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS).

The notification states that scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 6, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 8.

In the event that a contest is necessitated, polling has been scheduled for April 13.

The Speaker has appointed Bilal Ahmed Bhat, Additional Secretary of the Assembly, as the Returning Officer to oversee the electoral process.

The three financial committees—likely referring to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), the Estimates Committee, and the Committee on Public Undertakings—are key constitutional bodies responsible for financial scrutiny and oversight of government expenditure in the Union Territory. (KNS)
