Srinagar, June 19: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast generally cloudy weather across Jammu and Kashmir with intermittent rainfall, thunderstorms and gusty winds over the coming days, while cautioning residents about the possibility of hailstorms, flash floods and mudslides at isolated locations.

According to the forecast, from June 19 to June 22, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy with one or two spells of light rain, brief intense showers, thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and gusty winds at many places across the Union Territory.

For the period June 23 to June 26, weather conditions are likely to remain partly to generally cloudy, with light rain, brief showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds at a few places.

The MeT Centre has issued an advisory urging orchard growers to carry out spray activities during early morning hours.

Residents have also been advised to avoid taking shelter near loose structures, electric poles, wires and old trees during thunderstorms and strong winds. Authorities further advised suspension of boating activities and Shikara rides during thunderstorm, lightning and gusty wind conditions.

The department warned of a possibility of hailstorms at isolated places during the next four days, while brief intense showers may trigger flash floods and mudslides in vulnerable areas.

People have been advised to remain alert and avoid venturing near nallas and streams during periods of heavy rainfall.
