JVC sends 13 medical staff including 2 medicos for strict home quarantine who came in contact with Covid19 patient

We are on job to provide personal protective gear to hospitals in abundance: Advisor Baseer Khan

Putting a question mark on the efforts of the J&K Government for containing Covid-19, Doctors and Paramedical staff across the hospitals in Kashmir are in catch 22 situation after their counterparts of JVC have been asked for strict home quarantine who had come in contact with a Coronavirus affected person from Hyderpora who died today.

According to an order issued by coordinator SKIMS MC and hospital Dr Numan Wani, ” as reported by the HOD chest medicine SKIMS medical college hospital Bemina that a Patient namely Mohd Ashraf Aniam Resident of Hyderpora reported to the hospital emergency with complaints of fever, cough and running nose with the travel history to Andaman Nicobar. The basic investigation were done here and the patient were referred to SKIMS soura as per the directions of HOD chest medicine on the same day.”

” Today the understanding received a telephonic call and was apprised that the patient is having a high viral load. The matter was immediately discussed with the HoD general medicine and chest medicine and it was informed that by the following employees had direct contact the patient during his stay at hospital. The matter was brought into the notice of district administration immediately,” order added.

The HOD chest medicine has advised strict home Quarantine for these employees, it further reads.
The 13 employees who had come in direct contact include doctors, paramedic staff.

Meanwhile reports also said paramedics staff at JLNM hospital Rainawari Srinagar protested in the hospital premises against the non- availability of essential medical kits.

Notably President Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), Dr Suhail Naik in a letter has appealed Advisor to Lieutenant of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan to provide personal protective gear to hospitals in Kashmir.

” Our doctors are ready to deal with the situation following COVID- 19 that was been declared pandemic by the World Health Organization. In the backdrop of COVID-19 the hospitals in Kashmir are lacking in personnel protection gear. There is a looming threat that the coronavirus would engulf the valley,” it reads.

“We appeal your good self to kindly make arrangements to supply protective gear for the doctors, nurses and other paramedical and supportive staff, so that they work with out any apprehensions in health facilities,” it added.
When contacted Advisor to Lt Governor Baseer Ahmed Khan, he assured that personal protective gear would be available in all hospitals for doctors, paramedic staff in abundance at earliest.
