The Department of Tourism, Jammu and Kashmir, successfully organized the second edition of the Kashmir Marathon 2025 in Srinagar on November 2, marking another milestone in promoting the Union Territory as a destination for wellness, endurance, and sports tourism.

The marathon saw an overwhelming response with over 3,000 registrations, including 153 on-spot entries. More than 1,200 runners from 27 states, Union Territories, and 11 countries participated in the event, which has fast emerged as one of North India’s premier sporting attractions.

The full marathon (42 km) began at 6:15 a.m., followed by the half marathon (21 km) at 6:35 a.m. from Polo View Ground, Srinagar. The event was flagged off by the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, while the Lieutenant Governor graced the award ceremony and felicitated the winners.

With a prize pool of ₹3 crore, the event attracted both elite and amateur runners, boosting its reputation as a world-class competition.

As part of the event, a three-day Marathon Expo was organized from October 30 to November 1 at the Polo View Indoor Stadium Grounds, featuring registration facilities, bib distribution, and interactive sessions with national and international athletes.

The Department of Tourism expressed gratitude to all sponsors and partners, including J&K Bank, Coal India, Indian Oil Corporation, NTPC, NHPC, MEIL, REC India, Radisson Collection, Ramada Encore Rajbagh, PepsiCo, Gatorade, Bisleri, Paras Health, JK/SAIFCO Cements, RiteBite Max Protein, and Enerzal, for their support in making the event a success.

Reaffirming its commitment to promoting Jammu and Kashmir as a global hub for adventure and sports tourism, the Tourism Department said the marathon reflects the region’s growing potential to host international-scale events that combine fitness, sustainability, and natural beauty.
