Srinagar, Jan 23 : Police across Kashmir have been extending critical assistance to residents stranded due to heavy snowfall, ensuring safe movement, emergency medical care, and clearance of roads in affected areas, officials said on Friday.

In Shopian district, police teams worked relentlessly amid harsh weather to evacuate vehicles stuck in deep snow, facilitate safe passage for commuters, and clear hospital roads to maintain uninterrupted access to emergency services.

On one occasion, police arranged an oxygen cylinder from the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Shopian and delivered it to a patient at Bon Bazar, while in another, they helped transport a patient stranded due to snowfall to the hospital for urgent treatment.

Similar efforts were reported from Handwara, Sopore, and Vilgam.

It said police maintained close coordination with traffic and allied departments to ensure smooth response and uninterrupted emergency services.

Residents have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel, follow official advisories, and adhere to safety protocols, with the police assuring round-the-clock support.(KNS).
