Srinagar,Feb 01: Kashmir Traders & Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) has expressed grave concern over yet another incident involving harassment of a Kashmiri trader in Himachal Pradesh. This comes close on the heels of a recent shocking incident in Uttarakhand where a Kashmiri teenage boy was brutally assaulted with iron rod an incident that KTMF had strongly condemned at the time.

KTMF President Mohammad Yaseen Khan said, “the recurrence of such incidents in different states is deeply worrying and is creating a sense of fear and insecurity among Kashmiri traders, students, and workers who move outside Jammu & Kashmir for livelihood and education. Thousands of families in Jammu & Kashmir depend on trade and small business activities carried out in various parts of the country and such incidents directly affect their sense of safety and economic stability”.

KTMF has made a strong appeal to Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah to intervene and issue appropriate directions so that all state governments ensure full protection to Kashmiri traders, youth and workers. “We request the Hon’ble Home Minister to ask the Chief Ministers of all states to take firm and visible steps to prevent such incidents and to ensure strict legal action against anyone found involved in harassment or violence,” Khan added.

KTMF reiterated its faith in the Constitution and the rule of law and appealed for peace, mutual respect and the safety of every citizen, irrespective of region.
