Srinagar, Sept 1: The Department of Zoology, University of Kashmir, has flagged off a seven-day educational and scientific tour to Ladakh from August 31 to September 6, 2025. A group of 35 students, accompanied by faculty members, will explore the region’s unique faunal biodiversity, cold desert ecosystems, and vibrant cultural heritage.

The tour was formally flagged off by Prof. Tariq Ahmad, Head of the Department of Zoology, in the presence of faculty members. The team is being led by Dr. Yahya Bakhtiyar, Tour Incharge.

As part of the itinerary, students will visit significant ecological and cultural sites, including Kargil, Leh, Khardung La, Nubra Valley, Hunder, and Pangong Lake. The programme includes faunal surveys, habitat observation, specimen collection, and community interactions, providing participants with invaluable field-based research exposure.
