VC flags off marathon, distributes aids and appliances

Kashmir University Vice Chancellor Prof Talat Ahmad on Tuesday chaired a function to distribute aids and appliances among specially-abled students. He also flagged off a marathon on the campus.

Addressing officials and students on the occasion, Prof Talat said the university is committed to provide all possible facilities to specially-abled persons to make them excel in different fields of life.

“This is a special occasion today to reiterate our commitment towards the specially-abled students that they should not feel left over or left out in any manner. Our hand-holdling of the specially-abled children will enable their equal participation and ensure equal opportunities for them,” the Vice-Chancellor, who was chief guest on the occasion, said.

He said academic institutions need to encourage participation of specially-abled students in different academic and extra-curricular activities.

Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir, who was a guest of honour, assured the University’s full support to activities organised by the DSW, especially those related to the welfare of specially-abled students.

Dean Students Welfare Prof Raies A Qadri highlighted aims and objectives of the event, which included a marathon by specially-abled students and a cricket match played by them in the lawns of the KU campus.
