Labourer Dies of Electrocution in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: A labourer from north Kashmir’s Bandipora district died after receiving an electric shock while working in the Hawal area of Srinagar on Wednesday, officials said.

Reports said the labourer, identified as Noorani Gojar Turk, a resident of Chuntimullah, Bandipora, was employed with a private company in Srinagar.

The incident occurred in Hawal when the labourer was reportedly painting an electric pole and accidentally came into contact with a live wire, resulting in a severe electric shock.

He was immediately shifted to SKIMS Soura in an unconscious condition by a police team. However, doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident, and further proceedings are underway.
