A minor was critically injured and a house completely damaged in a fire incident in Garkote area of Uri on Thursday afternoon.

Officials told GNS that the fire broke out in the residential house of Mohd Din Bhat, son of Mohd Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Garkote. The blaze caused extensive damage to the structure, leaving the house fully gutted.

During the incident, a minor identified as Rehab Bhat, son of Mohd Iqbal Bhat, sustained critical injuries. He was immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital Uri, where he was given first aid.

A health official told GNS that the injured minor was later referred to Government Medical College Baramulla for advanced treatment.

Fire and Emergency Services personnel rushed to the spot soon after the incident. However, by the time the fire was brought under control, the house had already suffered complete damage.

The Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated further investigations. (GNS)
