Srinagar | July 26, 2025:
Veteran actor, director, and filmmaker Mir Sarwar, a celebrated figure from Kashmir, continues to leave an indelible mark on Indian cinema. With a prolific career spanning over two decades and more than 100 films and web series to his credit, Sarwar stands out not only for his acting prowess but also for his contributions as a director, scriptwriter, and cultural ambassador for Kashmir.

In recognition of his outstanding work, the Jammu and Kashmir government awarded him the State Award for Performing Arts in 2023. He is also an award-winning photographer, honored by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, and has made significant contributions to theatre, modelling, television, films, and digital media.

Sarwar’s recent cinematic ventures include three highly anticipated projects:

  • The Telugu period action drama “Hari Hara Veera Mallu”
  • The Indo-Vietnamese collaborative film “Love in Vietnam”
  • The web series “Salahkaar”

In July 2025, his latest release, “Akshardham”, hit the screens, adding to his ever-growing filmography.

Mir Sarwar recently completed filming “Tasrufdaar (Jinns of Kashmir)”, under his banner Safdar Arts, directed by Kapil Mattoo. The film delves into Kashmir’s mystical folklore and was crafted with a commitment to local storytelling.

Further extending his footprint in independent cinema, Sarwar also produced and directed the film “Sweet Poison”, penned by Junaid Imam, with additional dialogues written by Sarwar himself. Both Tasrufdaar and Sweet Poison are rich in regional narratives and mark his continued dedication to telling Kashmir’s stories on screen.

Mir Sarwar remains a vocal advocate for strengthening the Kashmiri and J&K film industry, pushing for greater visibility and investment in independent regional cinema.
