Charar-e-Sharief, October 24, 2025: After a gap of ten years, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq delivered a soul-stirring sermon at the historic Khanqah-e-Faizpanah, Charar-e-Sharief — the revered shrine of Sheikh-ul-Alam Hazrat Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA). A large gathering of devotees thronged the shrine to listen to the Mirwaiz’s message, which echoed the timeless Islamic principles of peace, justice, and spiritual awakening rooted in Kashmir’s Sufi heritage.

In his address, Mirwaiz described it as a great blessing to once again visit the sacred land of Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani (RA), whose teachings have shaped the moral and spiritual fabric of Kashmir for centuries. “It is Allah’s grace upon a people when such enlightened souls are born among them — those who elevate societies both spiritually and ethically,” he said, adding, “Kashmir is truly blessed that saints and sages have walked upon its soil, guiding hearts towards light and truth.”

Reflecting on contemporary times, the Mirwaiz said that when the world faces deep divisions, moral confusion, and widespread conflict, it becomes imperative to return to the core Sufi ideals of simplicity, equality, compassion, and non-violence.

He called upon the youth of Kashmir to embrace these traditions as a moral compass for the modern age, stressing that “the teachings of our Sufis are not relics of the past but guiding lights for the future.” He added, “In an era driven by power and domination, the path of our Sufis reminds us that true strength lies in truth, humility, and service to humanity.”

Reiterating the historical stance of the institution of Mirwaiz, he said it has always upheld dialogue over discord, compassion over coercion, and understanding over aggression. Commenting on the global scenario, Mirwaiz observed that the injustices and suffering seen across nations prove that “force and suppression can never yield peace.” Only through justice, mutual respect, and meaningful dialogue, he said, can lasting harmony be achieved.

Concluding his sermon, the Mirwaiz prayed for the leadership of South Asia to be guided by the vision of the great Sufi saints — to establish enduring peace through dialogue, fairness, and compassion.
