SRINAGAR, Sept 6: On the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq extended heartfelt greetings to the Muslim Ummah, urging people to follow the Prophet’s ﷺ teachings of compassion, justice, and service to humanity.
While offering prayers for peace and relief from suffering, the Mirwaiz expressed grave concern over disturbing reports regarding the safety of Kashmiri political prisoners. He referred to the narrowly averted fatal attack on Er Rashid inside Tihar Jail and the deliberate lodging of HIV-positive prisoners alongside Kashmiri inmates, allegedly aimed at provoking and humiliating them physically.
He also highlighted the continued denial of interim bail to veteran leader Shabir Ahmad Shah despite his deteriorating health, terming it deeply concerning.
“These incidents once again expose the dangerous conditions in which Kashmiri political prisoners are being kept, and the denial of justice to them. While our repeated appeals for their release go unheard, the least that should be ensured is their safety and dignity, which is the responsibility of the authorities,” the Mirwaiz said | Kashmir Pen
