Srinagar, March 9: Prominent religious leader Molvi Umar Farooq has strongly condemned the recent fashion show held in Gulmarg during the holy month of Ramzan, calling it an “outrageous” act that has deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of Kashmir.
Reacting to the viral images and videos from the event, Molvi Umar Farooq questioned how such an event was allowed in a valley known for its Sufi and saintly traditions. “How could it be tolerated in a place with a deeply religious outlook? Those involved should be immediately held accountable,” he stated.
The event has sparked widespread anger, with many criticizing the authorities for permitting such a show in the name of tourism promotion. “Such obscenity in the name of tourism promotion will not be tolerated in Kashmir,” Molvi Umar Farooq added, urging immediate action against the organizers.
The controversy has put pressure on the administration, which is already facing calls for an inquiry into the incident. Authorities are expected to take cognizance of the matter and respond to the growing public outrage.
