Jammu, Publish Date: Jan 29 2018

Opposition National Conference on Monday demanded the arrest of army personnel involved in the killing of two youth in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

“The government should arrest all the army personnel named in the FIR,” NC leader Ali Muhammad Sagar said while speaking in the Assembly during discussion on Shopian killings.

“I am hopeful that Mehbooba Mufti will announce the arrest of these personnel,” he said.

Two youth – Javed Ahmad Bhat and Suhail Javed Lone – were shot dead by army in Ganowpora village of Shopian on Saturday.

Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a magisterial probe into the incident. Police has filed a murder case against the army.

However, army has maintained that they opened fire in “self-defence” after a “mob tried to lynch an officer”
