CM, DyCM and Ministers not attending wreath laying ceremony unacceptable – NC Spokesperson
Srinagar | Saturday, June 17, 2017: National Conference on Saturday lashed out at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh for disrespecting the martyred policemen by not participating in the wreath laying ceremony held for them by J&K Police.
In a statement issued from Srinagar, an NC State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu said it was shameful for the Chief Minister who also happens to be the Home Minister to not participate in the wreath laying ceremony. “Nobody from the State Government participated in the ceremony and this shows the duplicity and utter lack of empathy that this Government is now identified with”, the NC Spokesperson said.
The NC Spokesperson also lashed out at BJP Minister and Leaders for discriminating against policemen from Kashmir and said their act of disrespect towards the martyrs contradicted their jingoistic approach in the media. “Why couldn’t a single BJP Minister take out time and attend the wreath laying ceremony? This has exposed the party’s malaise and hypocrisy beyond any doubt”, the NC Spokesperson said.
“The Government owes an explanation to the Police and to the families of these martyred policemen”, Mattu added.
