24 Teams from Across India Participate in Five-Day National Sporting Event

Srinagar, July 4: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Saturday inaugurated the All India Inter-NIT Faculty & Staff Cricket Tournament (Men) 2026, bringing together 24 teams from NITs across the country for five days of competitive cricket, camaraderie, and sporting excellence.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir, In-charge Director, NIT Srinagar, in the presence of Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, Director, Prof. Atikur Rehman, Registrar, Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Ahanger, Dean Faculty Welfare, Dr. Manoj Kumar, Faculty In-charge, Sports Activity Section (SAS), along with distinguished guests, officials, and representatives from participating NITs.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the importance of sports in promoting physical well-being, teamwork, institutional bonding, and a spirit of healthy competition among faculty and staff members from premier technical institutions across the country.

The five-day tournament is expected to foster inter-institutional cooperation while providing participants with an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent in a competitive yet friendly environment.

The organisers also acknowledged the generous support of several sponsors whose contributions helped make the national event possible. The sponsors include DRS IT Consultancy, NorthCut Enterprises, Aisha Enterprises, Bombay Sports, Chemi Health, Speedway Printers, G Active, K.S. Enterprises, M/S Sharp, Ahmad Scientific, Alfa Office, Nescafé, New S5 Enterprise, IGENE, FOSROC, Lakshmi Chand, JK Bats, J&K Bank, Canara Bank, ICICI Bank, HIECO, JK Cement, Gasha Canteen, Ali Mohammad P&D, and Orbit Contractors P&D.

The tournament promises an exciting week of cricket, celebrating sportsmanship, teamwork, and the spirit of unity through sports.
