Srinagar, August 4: Amid heightened speculation over potential developments concerning Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to social media on Monday evening to temper expectations, stating that while no significant announcement is likely on August 5, he remains hopeful for positive changes during the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament.
“I’ve heard every possible permutation and combination about what to expect in J&K tomorrow,” Omar wrote, “so let me stick my neck out and say nothing will happen tomorrow—fortunately nothing bad will happen, but unfortunately nothing positive will happen either.”
While acknowledging the widespread buzz about possible moves by the Centre—including the much-discussed restoration of statehood—Omar clarified that his remarks were not based on any insider knowledge. “And no, I haven’t had any meetings or conversations with people in Delhi. This is just a gut feeling. Let’s see this time tomorrow,” he added.
His statement comes at a time when back-to-back high-level meetings in Delhi involving the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and President have triggered a flurry of speculation across political and public circles in Kashmir and beyond.
