Jammu, Apr 25 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has approved a 9.60 crore project for construction of a multi-level car parking facility in Ganderbal town, officials said on Saturday.

The project has been cleared under the Capex Budget 2026–27 in favour of the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, they said.

The facility is aimed at easing traffic congestion in the town’s busy market areas and improving overall urban infrastructure, officials said.

They said the project will be executed as per approved technical specifications and codal procedures to ensure timely completion.

Once completed, the parking facility is expected to streamline traffic movement, provide organised parking space and improve public convenience in the growing town, they added.

The chief minister has directed the concerned departments to adhere to quality standards, ensure transparent tendering and obtain all necessary approvals before starting the work.
