Srinagar, December 17: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday presided over the 17th Annual Convention of the Adventure Tour Operators’ Association of India (ATOAI) at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, highlighting Jammu & Kashmir’s immense potential as a premier adventure tourism destination.
Addressing delegates from across the country, the Chief Minister stressed that safety, sustainability and capacity-building must remain the cornerstone of adventure tourism development in the Union Territory. He said J&K’s diverse geography and pristine landscapes offer unmatched opportunities for adventure tourism, which can be harnessed responsibly to attract global attention.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Omar Abdullah said sustained efforts are being made to create a robust tourism ecosystem through improved infrastructure, skilled manpower and strong policy support. He noted that the government’s objective is to firmly place Jammu & Kashmir on the global adventure tourism map while generating sustainable livelihoods for local youth and communities.
