SRINAGAR 01 Jun : Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has hit out at the opposition, particularly Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, stating that those raising questions were “not able to handle their microphones”.

Choudhary dismissed Sharma’s remarks as “dreams of Mungeri Lal” and asserted that the Omar Abdullah-led government was neither nominated nor weak.

He said, “It is a government chosen by the poor people of Jammu and Kashmir — those living in the mountains, border areas, villages, and downtown, whose children are unemployed and who need roads, drains, water and electricity.”

The Deputy Chief Minister further said that only the electorate which voted the National Conference to power could remove the government, not the opposition.

He also remarked that the BJP leader wants to remain in the headlines on a daily basis, adding that he has the right to speak as he is now in the opposition.

Highlighting developmental works under the present administration led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Choudhary claimed that projects which, according to him, could not be completed in 11–12 years under the BJP and PDP governments — including buildings, hospitals, bridges, roads, schools and colleges — were being completed within one and a half years by the current government.

He also referred to the introduction of free bus services for women, asking whether such initiatives had been delivered by the BJP or PDP during their tenure.

Choudhary further alleged that the BJP and PDP were “like brothers” who issue statements daily to generate headlines.
