Srinagar, January 18: On Saturday afternoon, 17 January 2026, the Fiction Writers Guild held its 356th session at the Guild’s city office located at Heera Manzil, Central Market, Abi Guzar, Lal Chowk, Srinagar. The session was presided over by the noted writer, poet, and critic, Professor Majrooh Rasheed.
This session was special in the sense that excerpts from a theatre play and a novel were presented.
Well-known actor and anchor, Mr. Manzoor Ashbrey, read a Kashmiri theatre play titled Peethar in a beautiful and engaging manner, while a promising young writer, Engineer Parvez Younis, presented selected excerpts from his English novel Appeals of June.
Both works generated substantial discussion. Participants actively contributed to the deliberations, making the proceedings another significant session in line with the Guild’s tradition.

Shehnawaz Butt, Ijaz Aslam, Arshad Mushtaq, Masood Shadab, Saeed Mohammad Madani, Aftab Ahmad Baktoo, Nasir Sheikh, Babra, Hazifa Pandit, Dr. Manzoor Nazar, Mohammad Yousuf Shaheen, Altaf Hussain, Shakeel-ur-Rehman, Ghulam Nabi Shahid, Saleem Salik, Nasir Zameer, Mubarak Lone, Suhail Salam, Abid Ali, and several students including Faizan and Burhan.
The proceedings were conducted by the noted scholar, writer, and social activist, Dr. Shehzada Saleem.
