If brain coordinates different biological systems of our body, then heart governs these physiological processes. If different organs of human body are soldiers, then the heart is its king. Every moment, lub-dub throbbing of the heart in our chest cavities reminds us that we are alive. Soul is believed to be flown to the heavens, once the pumping station of our body ceases to work. So, health of the heart determines the health of an individual. Pangs of aging jag deep into the muscular organ, and leave it ailing. With the passage of time, different physiological processes cause many glitches and snags to halt the smooth working of the heart. Indolence and hebetude coupled with natural tendencies of degeneration aggravate its malfunctioning, hence poses serious threats to human life. Consequently, people shift their focus towards its cleansing and rejuvenation. From a change in their life styles, they take certain medicines and foods to let it remain healthy.
The heart is not only the core of biological health, but the kernel of our moral, spiritual and emotional well-being of an individual. A person is believed to be unstable and sick if his/her spiritual and moral health is poor. Human heart has a natural predisposition to accommodate both angelic and demoniac attributes in it. Social environment, peer proximity, notions and perceptions developed by family, and prevailing educational system designs ones inclinations to either ways. We either let Godly traits to burgeon or Satanic attributes to bloom in our hearts. When devilish attributes become visibly evident in our behaviours, we must understand that something is wrong with the spiritual health of our heart. Purity of thought is the purity of heart. Tartar of filthy thoughts cause demoniac attributes to grow rapidly. Usually, people take care of the biological health of the heart but ignore its other aspects viz moral and spiritual health. If physiological disorders of heart need different remedial measures to let it work smoothly, then its spiritual health is equally important to ensure its smooth functioning. We have forgotten the moral and spiritual cleansing of our hearts. The rust of lust has thickened to the extent that angelic attributes have either gone dormant or evaporated altogether from our hearts, while as the demoniac traits have been governing our hearts. God no more resides in our hearts because He likes purity, rectitude and cleanliness. Our hearts have become the cherished abodes of Satan because he ( The Satan ) prefers dirty seats to live in.
The demon of lewdness has grown corpulent in man, and has taken him hostage. We have forced the wicked enslavement upon ourselves because we hardly pay any attention towards the spiritual and moral health of our hearts. If the consumption of healthy foods, regular workouts and certain drugs help us to maintain the biological health of our hearts. Then, something else is needed to make it spiritually and morally strong. The calculus of avarice, anger, arrogance, duality, greed, jealousy and lust has taken us to the state of sumum, bukmun, umyun. Our hearts hardly melt despite attending mosques and shrines regularly. Sermons of Quran and Hadith make no difference to our lives because a blackish layer of vices and evils obstructs the penetration of holy verses deep into our hearts.
Contemporary education alone can’t be the antidote to our rusty hearts untill we connect ourselves with our Lord, His commandments and teachings, and surrender our strength to His will with love. We have distanced ourselves from our Creator, Sustainer and Lord. We have annoyed Him. From our collective plight to our individual afflictions, we are ourselves responsible for it. Our hearts need immediate detoxification to create harmony between the body and the soul, otherwise the accumulated venom in our hearts is sure to spread and swamp the entire humanity. Rasoolulah SAW has advised us to rectify and detoxify our hearts from the smuts of vices. If the rust is not removed, we may end up worse than savages and beasts. Allah SWT never descends His blessings upon a rigid and sleazy heart. If anything pleases Him, it is the softness of heart. He SWT loves those slaves whose hearts are free from vices. Arrogant people have rigid and black hearts, which invites the rage of Allah SWT upon them.
Our impure hearts have become callous, rigid and insensitive. It has deepened our social crisis. Deaths related to dowry, physical harassment of women, molestation bids against minor and grown-up girls has increased. Indulgence of our youth in drug abuse has assumed dangerous proportions. Food adulteration to earn a few extra bucks illegitimately has hollowed the foundations of our cherished value system. The disciples of Nund Reshi ( AR ) and Lal Arifa have shun the path of mysticism. Dishonesty and deceit has become our conduct. Immodesty and indecency have become the order of the day. Rapes and fornication incidents are rampantly increasing. Obsession of material pursuits has ditched us deep to the lowest of low. Humanity has disappeared from the planet earth though human appearances still exist there. Reason – The reason behind the mess is the monopoly of satanic and demoniac attributes in our hearts. We prostrate before God, when God resides in our hearts, and we worship the Lucifer when he makes our hearts his habitat. Let’s pledge to mend our ways, otherwise the worse is in store for us.
No medical prescriptions and medicines can remove the plaque of vices and evils from our hearts. Cardiologists and physicians won’t cure our rusty hearts. Proximity with Allah SWT is the only panacea for our filth ridden hearts. Repetition of chanting of La-ilaha ilallaha has proven potion for hardened hearts. Humility and repentance in solitude decontaminates the hearts. Recitation of holy Quran and Durood is sure to solace our hearts. Complete submission to the will of Allah SWT does miracles. Tawakull Alallah is the way for our salvation and redemption. We must revisit our standards and benchmarks.
