Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Awantipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered a contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of Police Post Reshipora at a checkpoint established at Kawani Crossing Awantipora intercepted a suspicious person identified as Sheeraz Ahmad Bhat son of Sona-ul-Lah Bhat resident of Kawani. On checking, 20 kilograms of grinded cannabis concealed in two nylon bags were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 169/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been taken up.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
