SRINAGAR 16 May : Police in Srinagar district on Saturday attached immovable properties and a vehicle worth nearly Rs 6 crore belonging to alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The action was carried out by Police Station Khanyar under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act against three accused persons reportedly involved in multiple narcotics-related cases.
Officials said the first attachment pertains to Nazir Ahmad Mir alias Nazir Lashkari of Koolipora, Khanyar, involving a double-storeyed residential house along with eight shops constructed on 4.5 marlas of land. The property, valued at around Rs 3.2 crore, is linked to FIR No. 08/2020 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Khanyar.
In another case, police attached a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK01AW-8898, valued at about Rs 20 lakh, along with seven marlas of land and a temporary structure at Baghi Roop Singh, Miskeen Bagh, belonging to Gulzar Ahmad Mir. These assets, collectively valued at approximately Rs 1.8 crore, are connected with FIR No. 08/2026 under Sections 8/21/29 NDPS Act.
In a separate action, a single-storeyed residential house constructed on nine marlas of land at Lone Mohalla, Nowpora Khanyar, belonging to Zahid Manzoor Rather, was also attached. The property is valued at nearly Rs 80 lakh and is linked to FIR No. 96/2020 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act.
Police stated that the assets were identified during investigation as proceeds of narcotics trafficking and illegal drug trade.
Authorities reiterated their resolve to intensify action against drug networks and to continue targeting properties acquired through illicit means under the ongoing anti-drug drive across Jammu and Kashmir.
