“Bashir Ahmed Bhat had gone to offer Shab at Jamia Masjid. The commotion outside mosque attracted his attention and as he reached the spot, he received a bullet. After spending three day’s at SKIMS, he was discharged while a police party from Safakadal Police Station arrived at his house asking him to present himself before police for questioning. The Bazar Committee and Mohalla Committee handed him over to the police personnel at Safakadal Police Station and till date we don’t know about his whereabouts,” the protesters told news agency CNS.

They said that police head at Safakadal Police Station informed them that Bashir has been shifted to Police Station Nowhatta. “When we reached Police Station Nowhatta with medicines and food, we were denied a meeting as the officer said that he is not lodged in the Station,” said protesters.

“Police have implicated Bashir in a false case. Those who killed police officer in self-defence are free while innocents have been arrested,” they said and demanded the release of the detained youth.  (CNS)
