Police seizes huge quantity of country-made illicit liquor in Anantnag, 02 arrested

Police in Anantnag have seized huge quantity of illicit country-made liquor at Bijbehara and arrested 02 persons involved in its production and distribution.

A Police spokesperson said that acting on a specific tip-off, a team of officers from Anantnag Police conducted a raid at Pazalpora, Bijbehara, near Jadoo Point, leading to the seizure of approximately 950 litres of illicit country-made liquor. The operation also uncovered various equipment and materials used in the illegal production process. During the operation, 02 persons identified as Azad Singh and Suraj Chohan, originally from Akola, Maharashtra, and currently residing in Pazalpora, Bijbehara, have been arrested.

“A case vide FIR No. 168/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been initiated”, he said.
