Pregnant lady from COVID-19 red zone who along with her twin died at maternity and Child Care Hospital Anantnag on Saturday was tested positive for COVID-19 at CD hospital Laboratory.
Ruqaya wife of Javid Ahmad, a resident of covid-19 red zone Kharpora Kokernag village of Anantnag district died on Saturday afternoon at MCH Anantnag after which her samples were taken for COVID-19 testing.
Pertinently soon after her death, her family members alleged that doctors were hesitant to treat her as she was from red zone area which lead to her death along with twins.
Soon after allegations, an inquiry committee was constituted and asked to submit its report within three days.
However sources said that despite knowing that she is from red zone area and taking her samples for covid-19 testing, body was handed over to family for last rites.
They said authorities should have kept her body in a mortuary till her COVID-19 report would have come.
“As per the WHO guidelines, all pregnant women who visit hospital have to be treated as covid-19 probable and this lady was from the red zone and made her more suspected,” said a doctor.
Pertinently with her death, the death toll due to COVID-19 in J&K Union Territory has reached to 07 including 6 from Kashmir division and one from Jammu division.
On contacting Principal Government Medical College Dr Showkat Jeelani, he said that three doctors, two nurses and few medicos were immediately asked to go for home quarantine after the lady tested positive.
He further added that lady was presumed as COVID-19 patient and was buried as per WHO guidelines.
“Inquiry report is expected to come tomorrow or day after,” he said adding that anyone involved in negligence will be dealt strictly.
