Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Preached Love and Respect for All Communities, Faiths and Sections of Society: (Speakers)

Srinagar,10 December 2025: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today organised a solemn Punjabi Mushaira at Tagore Hall, Srinagar, to commemorate the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

The event was presided over by the renowned Punjabi, Urdu and Kashmiri writer Dr. Joginder Singh Shan. Dr. Keerat Singh Inqlabi, Additional Secretary of the Academy Adeel Saleem (JKAS), and Editor Sheeraza Punjabi Pupinder Singh Paras were also present on the presidium.
In his welcome address, Adeel Saleem highlighted the ongoing literary and cultural initiatives of the Academy, which play a vital role in preserving the heritage, values and cultural message of diverse communities and conveying it to the younger generation. He also shed light on the teachings, life and supreme sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
Delivering the presidential address, Dr. Joginder Singh Shan appreciated the efforts of the Cultural Academy and spoke comprehensively and insightfully about the life, circumstances and historical background of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s martyrdom.

Prominent Punjabi poets from across Kashmir presented poetic tributes to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, reflecting on his personality, universal message and teachings of humanity.
Poets who recited their poems included Updesh Kour, Karan Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Mangat Singh Jugnoo, Iqbal Singh Rahi, Dr. Joginder Singh Shan, Kanwal Nain Singh, Dr. Keerat Singh Inqlabi, Tanmeet Kour, Gurdial Singh, Gurdeep Singh Khalsa, Prabjot Singh, Jasbeer Kour, Daljeet Singh, Gurnam Singh, Kenwal Pal Singh, Ranbir Singh, Sulinder Singh Sodhi, Inder Pal Singh and Harbhajan Singh.
On the occasion, Editor Sheeraza Punjabi Pupinder Singh Paaras also shared his views, emphasising the Academy’s continued efforts for the promotion of Punjabi language and literature. He stated that the universal message of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji ,rooted in compassion, courage and humanity,remains equally relevant today.
The programme was conducted by Mangat Singh Jugnoo, while the vote of thanks was presented by Pupinder Singh Paaras.
