Srinagar, Jan 20 (KNC): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday inaugurated the redeveloped Amira Kadal Bridge in Srinagar, terming it a symbol of the city’s blend of heritage and modern infrastructure under the Srinagar Smart City Project.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration, LG Sinha, as per the news agency Kashmir News Corner KNC said the historic bridge one of the oldest in the city has been completely rebuilt and equipped with modern amenities for the convenience of pedestrians.

“The Amira Kadal Bridge, which was reconstructed under the Smart City initiative, reflects our commitment to integrating Srinagar’s rich heritage with contemporary civic facilities,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

He added that the project aims to create vibrant public spaces and reconnect Srinagar’s historic core with modern urban life. “Through such projects, the traditional charm and old connection between Srinagar and Shehr-e-Khaas will be revived,” LG Sinha said.

The redeveloped bridge, officials said, includes smart lighting, seating spaces, and improved pathways, making it a key pedestrian and cultural landmark connecting Lal Chowk with adjoining markets along the Jhelum riverfront.—(KNC)
